Gymnastics Frequently Asked Questions
How
do I register for a class?
You can pre-print
the registration form and have it completed when you arrive
at the gym. This will help to make registration more efficient.
You can also come to the gym and complete the registration at
that time.
What
is your make-up policy if I have to miss a class?
Make-ups for our
Class students are offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Classes are to be made up the week before or the week after
the class is missed. Parents must confirm the make-up date with
the office staff.
Returned
Check policy
There will be a $20.00
fee for any checks returned as insufficient funds.
Weather
closings
If the gym has to
close due to inclement weather, it will appear on WPXI Channel
11 television news station. If you are unsure if we are going
to be open, please call the gym at 724-684-5779.
What
to wear
Students should wear
comfortable clothes. Team students must wear a leotard.
Pro-rated
tuition
Tuition is paid every
4-week session; if a student joins during the session, the tuition
will be pro-rated accordingly.
Can
I start at any time or do I need to wait for a new session to
begin?
We offer open registration
year round; you do not have to wait for a new session. Tuition
will be pro-rated.
How
long is a session?
A session is four
weeks long.
Can
I observe the class?
Parents can observe
their child in our preschool area at any time. Class and Team
students can be observed from our viewing area in our lobby
at any time. Due to limited space on our second floor, parents
are permitted to go upstairs to observe their child only once
during a session. These dates are posted in the lobby area.
Can
my child try a class before registering?
We offer a trial
class at no charge to be sure this is what the student and parents
want. Only one free trial class is allowed per student.
Do
you offer camps?
We offer camps twice
per year; a summer camp and a winter camp.
What
are the office hours?
The office is open
week nights from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Are
there discounts for more than one child?
There is a 20% discount
for each additional child.
How
often should my child attend class?
Statistics show that
students who attend class on a regular basis advance faster.
The tuition paid for each session is for a one hour class, once
per week for all class students. We offer a 20% discount off
the tuition of a second class if the student would like to attend
two classes per week.
Are
the instructors certified?
Our instructors are
safety certified and have background clearances. This is a requirement
of the USAG organization.
How
can I make a payment?
You can make a payment
in our office during business hours. We accept cash or check
as payment.
How
do I get in the competitive program?
In order to be invited
to be a member of our competitive team program there are certain
requirements a student must meet; certain skills on each apparatus
must be achieved, the desire to excel in the sport is a must,
working together with fellow teammates in harmony, and a family
commitment is essential to the success of the gymnast and the
competitive program. Students are evaluated annually by our
coaching staff and parents are consulted before a student is
invited to the team.
What
is the instructor to student ratio?
Preschool instructor
to student ratio is 5 to 1 and for class students it is 8 to
1.
How
long are the classes?
Classes for Preschoolers
and Class students are one hour long, one evening per week.
Competitive team students have extended hours based on the skill
level they are working at.
Does
the gym run year round?
The gym runs year
round with the exception of Holidays and one week in August.
Schedules are available in our office for session dates, holiday
closings and our annual one week closing.
Can
I bring a friend to try a class?
Yes, we offer one
trial class at no charge for friends or relatives. A registration/waiver
form must be completed by a parent or guardian before taking
the trial class.
How
old does my child need to be to join a class?
We offer classes
for students ages 18 months old to 18 years old.
Do
you offer private lessons?
Private lessons are
available; we offer one hour or half hour lessons. Call our
office at 724-684-5779 to arrange a day and time suitable for
you. You must be enrolled in our program to have a private lesson.
